VP-ASP Deluxe by Virtual Programming, is a good shopping cart in terms of feature set. However, it is difficult to get your local machine set up so that you can run the software. The shopping cart is browser-based. There are several other browser-based shopping carts that are easier to navigate, and configure than VP-ASP.
Feature Set:
VP-ASP does have quite a few features. They have Unlimited products, categories and unlimited subcategories. VP-ASP can be your whole web site without creating one page of html. You don’t need FrontPage or Dream Weaver or any other html editor. Simply load the supplied Access database with your products. You can use the supplied shop administration to view and fill orders. VP–ASP automatically displays products, takes orders, sends confirming e–mails to the merchant and customer, provides the customer with a printable confirmation form. Also the Colors, look and feel, categories, and products can easily be changed.
Ease of Use:
Once everything is installed correctly VP–ASP is easy to use. Most browser–based shopping carts are simple to use and VP–ASP does not have the professional look or feel that of some of the other browser based shopping carts have. There are too many unneccesary options that it makes it look cluttered and unorganized.
Ease of Installation:
VP–ASP installation is easy. Getting the environment correct in the Windows world is the hard part unless you pick a web hosting company that has done this for you.
Help/Documentation:
Perhaps the most important attribute of good Shopping Cart software is the information and help the application provides. The help is adequate. They do have zip help files to get you started. They also have FAQs. There are also little question mark boxes next to most of the merchant tools, to give you a little context sensitive description about each option.
Summary:
VP–ASP Deluxe is a good shopping cart but there are other great shopping carts that would be a better investment for your business. VP–ASP is a box deal. Once the software is yours you can do what you want with it and sell anything you want.
