Americart by Americart, is a poor shopping cart. First you must build your own product pages and then you add Americart’s html tags to your code. When a customer clicks “add to cart”, the product information is tracked on Americart’s server. When the customer clicks “check out”, the order information is checked for correct field entry and then sent to you, the merchant, via email. Then you process the order as if it were a conventional phone order. It’s essentially a “Buy Button” Shopping Cart.
Feature Set:
Basically this shopping cart handles one part of an E–commerce Solution, the check–out. It will handle shipping and tax calculations. You still need a credit card processing solution because Americart only takes your order over a secure connection. They then E–mail you when you have an order.
Ease of Use:
This product is not made for the novice. You have to be very fimiliar with HTML to run this shopping cart. There really is not much to the Americart software. You basically add some code to your website so Americart can handle your orders.
Ease of Installation:
To get a test page of your products working will take a fairly long time. If you have extensive html experience, you can read the step-by-step guide and fill out the cart configuration form in about forty minutes.
Help/Documentation:
The Help is very poor. They have an online setup guide and an E–mail support line.
Summary:
Americart is a very poor shopping cart. If all you need is a check out service, Americart would be an option for you.
